Consistency isn't everything
When I started this Substack a few months ago, I made a decision that I would post once a week on Fridays at 7:00 am MT. With my background in marketing, I knew that consistency with posting is important for readership.
But, I am also trying to live the anti-hustle lifestyle and these two things do not always go hand in hand.
I’m also realizing that I may not have an essay in me every week. Sometimes I need a few weeks to play with the idea in my head and the words that come out.
As we head into the summer months in Montana, my weekly rhythm is going to change and I will be prioritizing other things - like getting outside and spending time with family and friends. Enjoying the warmer months. Camping and concerts and patio meals.
All this to say - I’m realizing consistency isn’t everything.
Living is.
You will hear from me less frequently over the coming months, but you will hear from me. I’ll still aim for Friday posts, to maintain that rhythm for myself. Otherwise, know that I’m here and thinking and writing and enjoying life and the sweetness and fullness of summer in Montana.*
I hope you do the same.
Give Big update
I also want to share that Pride House received an incredible outpouring of support during Give Big last week. Many of you on this Substack contributed and I can’t thank you enough. In total, we raised more than $13,000 from over 170 people. We were, along with Queer Bozeman, the top small nonprofit for number of donors, which is a huge statement of support. As we said to everyone who gave:
Your support is more than the dollars you donated. It's the message that LGBTQIA+ kids who come to Pride House have the support in our community to exist. To thrive.
That’s how we change the world.❤️
*I’ve hesitated to do this because I’m not good at promoting myself (if this is even what I’m trying to do - jury is still out), but a few months ago I turned my Instagram public. If you’d like to follow me, feel free. And if you’re not into that, that’s totally fine. I’ve hopped from social media platform and I don’t know if I like any of them, but Instagram has been fun for me lately. I love sharing photos of my cats, sunsets and rainbows, and yes, sometimes my thoughts on current events and politics. You have been warned. 😉
